Body Basics take 6 - full tape completed

Who: Radagast and SO
Exercise type: Kathy Smith's Body Basics video
Portions of tape: warmup, arms, aerobics, abs, legs, butt, cooldown (full tape)
Duration: ~70 minutes
Notes: We did the whole tape at once for the first time! Woohoo! Of course, we were both absolutely exhausted at the end, so much so that we collapsed to our knees in unison when we were supposed to be doing a calf stretch during the cooldown.

We've now met the first of the goals we set at the beginning of the month.

Hello Radagast:

Stumbled across your blog from a link off of Orac. Congratulations on meeting your workout goal. It's definitely an accomplishment.

FYI: I'm a moderator on two private forums devoted to different aspects of health and fitness: one is focused on fat loss, while the other is dedicated to increasing lean body mass and strength. While traditional cardiovascular exercises - such as the video routines you're doing - have some use - from my experience - you will get far more "bang for your buck" via a solid program of resistance training. That's lifting weights - and I don't mean flapping tiny pink dumbells around while prancing to pop tunes either. Most women avoid this sort of activity because they believe they'll get "big and bulky." this couldn't be further from the truth. Nothing - and I mean nothing - is better for burning fat and sculpting your body. And the sense of empowerment is unbelievable.

Think about it...70 minutes in the gym pumping iron is time much better spent than 70 minutes enhancing Kathy Smith's bottom line.
